In the height of climate change, agriculture plays

In the height of climate change, agriculture plays a crucial role in combating this global menace, carbon credits is one frame work provided in the Paris Agreement. Here are tips for farmers.

🌱If you are interested in selling Carbon credits , ensure you first identify a trusted Carbon developer.

🌱Provide information about your farm( records, size, ownership documents etc) after which an initial estimation will be conducted from the information provided.

🌱Implement sustainable farming practices such as agroforestry that will enhance carbon sequestration. Data collection will be done and verified by a certified 3rd party.

🌱After verification ,sell the credits. Farmers are advised to conduct thorough research to ensure the pricing is accurate.

We successfully completed the National CSA- MSP workshop last week. We were able to reflect on learnings & opportunities from the REALMS project and the progress of the CSA MSP .

The workshop brought together stakeholders from different county governments, REALMS partners, farmers among others. The workshop also served a platform for farmers to engage with the policy makers from their counties .

It's #TBT, today we look into cape gooseberry an edible wild fruit. It originated in south America and moved to Europe in 1770's where it was later commercialised in 1985.

It may have been introduced in Kenya through bird migratory corridors in Europe. In 2010 KALRO classified it an underutilised fruit in Kenya.

The fruit grows in forests like Mt Kenya, Mt Elgon forest, Kakamega forest etc. It used to be grown in large scale in Kibwezi and was processed to make jam. It is normally sold on roadside in Rift Valley or in selected super markets.
